Dr. Deborah Sundin is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Edith Cowan University (ECU). She holds a Doctor of Philosophy (2006) and a Bachelor of Nursing (Hons) (1997) from the University of Southern Queensland. Her expertise spans clinical decision-making, critical care, and simulation-based education. She coordinates undergraduate and postgraduate curricula, with a focus on nursing education and midwifery.
Dr. Sundin's research explores end-of-life decision-making in critical care and the efficacy of simulation training for healthcare professionals. Her work also addresses maternal and neonatal health, including breech birth management and preterm infant care in Ghana. She has secured grants totaling over $300,000 for simulation resources and patient safety initiatives.
She has supervised six completed research students, including projects on patient safety, intensive care unit decision-making, and midwifery practices. Dr. Sundin is a member of the Women & Birth editorial board and the ECU Ethics Committee.
