Deborah Knight is an Associate Professor and Queen’s National Scholar in the Department of Philosophy at Queen’s University. Her research focuses on the philosophy of art and aesthetics, particularly in literature, film, and visual arts. She holds a B.A. and M.A. from Carleton University and a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto.
Her work explores intersections between philosophy and cultural studies, cognitive film theory, and genre analysis. Notable research includes studies on The Matrix, horror films, Westerns, and directors like Clint Eastwood and Tim Burton. Recent publications (2019–2023) address film philosophy, memorial art, and interdisciplinary aesthetics.
