Deborah Jermyn is an Associate Professor in Film & Culture at the University of Roehampton's School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. She specializes in feminist media studies, women in film, celebrity cultures, and the intersection of ageing with contemporary screen industries. Her active research includes the 'menopausal turn' in UK and international media, supported by a 2023-25 AHRC Research Network (MAUSI Net) as Co-Investigator.

Her research spans US cinema, contemporary TV drama, audience studies, and crime culture. She won the MeCCSA 2024 Outstanding Achievement Award for her article on the menopausal turn.
Deborah supervises PhD students and serves on editorial boards of Celebrity Studies, Critical Studies in Television, and Edinburgh University Press series. Her consultancy includes external examining at University of Exeter and academic validations at Bedfordshire, Bournemouth, and other institutions. She collaborates internationally with Women Over Fifty Film Festival and scholars in Sweden and India through MAUSI Net.
