Deborah Develin

Deborah Develin is a Senior Lecturer in Practice Education at Sheffield Hallam University's Department of Social Work and Social Care and Community Studies. She holds a BA (Hons) in Applied Social Studies with CQSW from Sheffield City Polytechnic (1991), a CCETSW Practice Teaching Award (1997), and a PG Cert in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education from Sheffield Hallam University (2012).

With 18 years of social work experience in areas including older people services, child protection, and community social work, she now leads practice education initiatives. Her research focuses on student placement experiences and practice educator motivation, with publications examining interprofessional learning and teaching motivations in social work.

She teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, leading the Introductory Practice Educator Course and developing continuing professional development programs for practice educators across the region. Her teaching portfolio includes Social Work Practice Learning, Readiness for Practice, and several interprofessional education modules focused on collaborative practice.
