Deborah Bieler is a Professor in the Department of English at the University of Delaware, part of the College of Arts & Sciences. She coordinates the English Education program and founded a partnership with Howard High School of Technology. Her work focuses on equity, antiracism, and retention in secondary English teacher education. She authored The Power of Teacher Talk, which won the 2020 AERA award, and has published widely in journals like English Education and Teachers College Record.
Her research includes projects like TEND (examining equity-oriented teachers' challenges) and LARE (studying anti-racist educators' language use).
