Dr. Debora Wenger is a Professor and Samuel Talbert Lecturer at the School of Journalism and New Media, University of Mississippi. She previously served as Interim Dean and Assistant Dean for Partnerships and Innovation. Her career bridges academia and broadcast journalism, with experience in newsrooms and leadership roles. Wenger holds a Ph.D. in Journalism from Kingston University (2016), alongside degrees from Minnesota State University Moorhead (B.S., 1984) and UNC Charlotte (M.A., 1995).
Research Focus: Dr. Wenger’s work centers on AI’s impact on journalism education, digital transformation in local TV news, and preparing journalists for evolving media landscapes. She emphasizes audience engagement, newsroom innovation, and equipping students with multimedia storytelling skills.
