Amy Simons

Professor Amy Simons teaches at the University of Missouri's School of Journalism, specializing in news literacy, multimedia journalism, and advanced social media strategies. She coordinates the introductory course 'Applied Projects for Journalism and Strategic Communication' (J1400) and advises Mizzou Women in Media. With a background spanning 15 years in journalism (Chicago Tribune, CLTV News), she focuses on digital workflows and AI integration in reporting.

Education includes a Bachelor of Journalism from Missouri School of Journalism and a Master of Science in Learning Technologies and Design from MU's College of Education.

Her research explores digital news literacy, social media strategies, mobile journalism, and AI tools like ChatGPT in journalism education.
