Debbie Laverie is the Minnie Stevens Piper Professor of Marketing and Supply Chain Management at Texas Tech University’s Rawls College of Business, where she has served since 1995. In addition to her professorship, she has held administrative roles including Senior Associate Dean of the College, Area Coordinator of Marketing, and Director of the Teaching, Learning, and Technology Center.

Research Focus
Professor Laverie’s scholarship investigates consumption in everyday life, macromarketing, digital marketing, and the scholarship of teaching and learning. Her work examines how consumers integrate marketing technologies—such as virtual reality, social media, and mobile platforms—into decision-making, while also advancing pedagogical innovation in business education.
Across more than two decades, her research has appeared in premier journals including the Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Retailing, Journal of Public Policy & Marketing, Journal of Macromarketing, and Journal of Marketing Education. A common thread is the intersection of technology, consumer behavior, and societal welfare, with recent projects exploring sustainable luxury consumption, VR-driven product evaluation, and storytelling’s impact on food waste reduction.
