Debbie Goss is an Adjunct Instructor and Writing Center Manager at Soka University of America (SUA). She holds a PhD in Composition and Applied Linguistics from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, an MA in TESOL from SUA's Graduate School, and a BA in Foreign Languages and Education from Lewis and Clark College. Her research focuses on Writing Pedagogy, Global Citizenship Education, Writing Center Studies, and Action Research. She actively contributes to academic communities through publications and conference presentations, emphasizing contemplative practices, sustainable development goals, and ethical tutoring frameworks.
Her professional awards include the 2024 Luis and Linda Nieves Travel Grant and the Ikeda Center Dissertation Fellowship. Goss teaches courses such as Writing and Communication Skills 101 and leads initiatives like the Extended Bridge Program. She has received grants for research on Wikipedia engagement in academia and transformative pedagogical strategies.
Her work bridges theory and practice, fostering student empowerment through writing-centered global citizenship education. The Writing Center under her direction serves as a hub for academic support and ethical dialogue.
