Meghan J. Clark is an Associate Professor of Moral Theology at St. John’s University (NY), affiliated with the St. John’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Theological Ethics from Boston College and a B.A. from Fordham University. Her work focuses on Catholic Social Teaching, human rights, solidarity, and global development, with a particular emphasis on interdisciplinary approaches to social justice.
Clark’s research includes fieldwork in Sudan, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Tanzania, examining issues like women’s empowerment and human rights. She has authored books such as The Vision of Catholic Social Thought and co-edited Public Theology and the Global Common Good, both recognized by the Catholic Press Association. Her articles explore topics ranging from Pope Francis’s theology to the ethics of global health initiatives.
Clark has held significant roles, including Assistant Coordinator of the Vatican’s “Doing Theology from the Existential Peripheries” project and senior fellow at the Vincentian Center for Church and Society. She contributes to public theology through writing for US Catholic and America Magazine, and her advocacy includes work with organizations like Catholic Relief Services and the United Nations.
Her awards include the 2024 Faculty Excellence in Inclusive Teaching Practices and the 2014 Excellence in Teaching Award. Grant-funded projects include research on theology and health, anti-racism in academia, and global solidarity initiatives. Clark’s work bridges academic theology with practical engagement, emphasizing marginalized voices and systemic change.
