Erin Brigham is an Affiliate Professor (part-time) in the Department of Theology and Religious Studies at the University of San Francisco. She directs the Joan and Ralph Lane Center for Catholic Social Thought and the Ignatian Tradition, and the St. Ignatius Institute, a living-learning community focused on academics, spirituality, and solidarity. Her expertise spans Catholic social thought, critical feminist theory, and ecclesiology. She holds a PhD in Systematic and Philosophical Theology from the Graduate Theological Union (2010).
Her research emphasizes sanctuary theology, women’s engagement with Catholic social teaching, and the intersection of theology with social justice. Recent projects include analyzing Pope Francis’s theology of organizing and co-editing works on women’s contributions to Catholic social tradition. She is currently writing a book on community organizing and Catholic social thought.
Her publications bridge theological scholarship with practical applications, such as service learning and ecumenical dialogue. She actively promotes solidarity through academic and community initiatives, reflecting her commitment to Ignatian values.
