Debbie Bandara is a Lecturer in Future Media Production at the School of Digital Arts (SODA), Manchester Metropolitan University. With a background in Artificial Intelligence, directing, choreography, and multi-sensory immersive design, she specializes in creating works that integrate emerging technologies like 5G and haptics with immersive theater for diverse audiences, including those with profound and multiple learning needs (PMLD).

- Member of the EDI steering group for Immerse UK and The Alan Turing Group AI & Arts Interest Group
- Lead facilitator for Royal Exchange Theatre Young Company
Her research focuses on breaking traditional narrative boundaries through virtual production and sensorial technologies, promoting diversity and inclusion in creative industries. Collaborations include Manchester International Festival and Folkteatern in Sweden.
Bandara's work spans over two decades of international touring and education, combining her technical expertise in AI with somatic movement practices to develop a unique Creative Framework for artistic entrepreneurs.
