Monica Duncan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Music, Multimedia, Theatre & Dance at Lehman College, City University of New York. Her interdisciplinary practice bridges video art, performance, and sensory exploration within contemporary artistic frameworks.
Her educational background includes:
- B.F.A. from Alfred University
- M.F.A. in Visual Arts from UC San Diego
- M.A. in Choreography and Performance from Justus Liebig University Giessen (completed on a D.A.A.D fellowship)
Duncan's research investigates sensory perceptions, queer potentiality, and human relationships with the more-than-human world through time-based media. As an audiovisual artist collaborating with Senem Pirler, her work examines embodied experiences and experimental forms, with recent focus on expanded cinema and interdisciplinary performance. Her practice integrates theoretical frameworks from queer theory and relational aesthetics to challenge conventional sensory boundaries.
