**Dawn Guthrie**, Professor Emerita at Wilfrid Laurier University, holds academic affiliations with the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education and the Department of Health Sciences. Her research focuses on leveraging large datasets to improve care for older adults and those with disabilities through interRAI collaborations. She earned a PhD in Health Studies and Gerontology (2004) from the University of Waterloo and an MSc in Epidemiology (1993) from the University of Toronto.
Her work emphasizes **aging, sensory impairments, palliative care**, and healthcare system optimization. Key projects include developing decision-support tools using interRAI assessments and analyzing quality indicators for community-based palliative care. She leads the **3D Research Group**, which addresses gaps in service delivery for vulnerable populations.
Notable contributions include studies on sensory impairment prevalence, caregiver burden screening (CaRE algorithm), and validation of prognostic tools like the interRAI CHESS scale. Her research integrates epidemiology, health policy, and clinical practice to enhance patient outcomes and system efficiency.
Dr. Guthrie collaborates internationally with interRAI’s 35-country consortium, advancing standardized assessments for disabilities. She has supervised students and researchers in gerontology, health services research, and palliative care, with a focus on translating data into actionable health policies.
