Luke Turcotte, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Sciences at Brock University’s Faculty of Applied Health Sciences. His research focuses on improving healthcare quality for older adults with complex needs in hospitals, long-term care, and community settings. He employs clinical epidemiology and health services research methods, analyzing large health datasets to evaluate service delivery models, assess care outcomes, and develop clinical decision-support tools.
Dr. Turcotte holds a PhD in Aging, Health, and Wellbeing from the University of Waterloo. He previously served as a Senior Researcher and Senior Methodologist at the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) and completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). He is an Associate Fellow with interRAI, a global leader in health assessment systems for vulnerable populations.
His research interests include comprehensive health assessments, clinical decision-support algorithms, case-mix classification systems, and transitions in care. Professional affiliations include the Bruyère Research Institute as an Affiliate Investigator. He teaches courses such as Secondary Data Analysis and Community Services for Older Adults, mentoring graduate and undergraduate students in applied health research.
