David Yocum is a Professor of Practice and Director of the Master of Architecture Program at the Georgia Institute of Technology’s College of Design. He has been teaching since 2005, focusing on critical design thinking and architecture in the public realm. His academic roles include leading graduate design studios and serving as a Paul Rudolph Visiting Critic at Auburn University.

His research emphasizes architecture’s role in public spaces and civic design, with projects spanning academic buildings, museums, residences, and synagogues. Co-founder of BLDGS, his firm focuses on inventive and enduring architectural solutions. Notable awards include the 2017 Emerging Voices Award and multiple AIA recognitions. Previously, he worked at Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects on award-winning projects like the Knowlton School of Architecture.
