David Wessel serves as Director of The Hutchins Center on Fiscal and Monetary Policy and Senior Fellow in Economic Studies at the Brookings Institution, where he has worked since December 2013 following a 30-year career at The Wall Street Journal. He holds a Visiting Professor position at Princeton University's School of Public and International Affairs, teaching in the journalism program, and has also instructed in Dartmouth's Tuck School of Business executive education program.
His research focuses on fiscal and monetary policy frameworks, Federal Reserve operations, U.S. budget politics, and economic journalism.
