Jonathan Kaufman is a Pulitzer Prize-winning academic and journalist currently serving as Professor and Director of the School of Journalism at Northeastern University since 2015. He has held senior editorial roles at Bloomberg News, The Wall Street Journal, and The Boston Globe, leading global news teams and winning major awards. Under his directorship, Northeastern's School of Journalism expanded graduate enrollment fourfold, launched interdisciplinary programs like Media Advocacy (in collaboration with the School of Law), and secured nearly $1 million in external funding.

Research Focus: Kaufman investigates the evolving landscape of news media, China's political and economic dynamics, and systemic issues around race, class, and intergroup relations in America. His work bridges journalism practice with social justice and historical analysis.
