معرفی
Dr. David Talavera is a Senior Lecturer in Genetics/Genomics at the University of Manchester's Division of Cardiovascular Sciences. He specializes in bioinformatics approaches to identify genes linked to cardiovascular diseases and genetic variation effects. His research focuses on understanding tolerated vs. deleterious genetic variations, functional genomics, and stress response mechanisms in yeast. He collaborates with multiple labs and holds roles in teaching, including co-directing the MSc Bioinformatics and Systems Biology program.
- Teaching Roles: Lecturer in Bioinformatics (BIOL60791, BIOL33011), MSc Cardiovascular Health, BSc Biomedical Sciences.
- External Position: UKRI Talent Peer Review College member since March 2023.
- Research Projects: Includes machine learning for cardiac gene identification, congenital heart disease genetics, and genomic variation modeling.
Research Interests: Bioinformatics-driven discovery of disease-associated genes, multi-omics analysis, and stress response mechanisms. His work addresses gaps in understanding genetic variants' clinical relevance and systemic molecular changes in cardiovascular pathophysiology.
