Elisavet Fotiou

Elisavet Fotiou is an Honorary Research Associate in the Division of Cardiovascular Sciences within the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health at the University of Manchester. She holds a PhD in Cardiovascular Sciences completed in 2020, with research focused on identifying genetic variants associated with congenital heart disease.

Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of Birmingham (awarded July 6, 2012) and a Master in Science in Human Genetics from Imperial College London. She also completed a Master of Research in Cardiovascular Sciences.

Fotiou's research interests center on cardiovascular genetics, particularly using genomic approaches to understand congenital heart conditions. Her work spans exome sequencing, candidate gene identification, and analysis of genetic variants associated with conditions like Tetralogy of Fallot and atrial septal defects. She has made significant contributions to understanding the genetic basis of congenital renal tract malformations and cardiac development.
