David Siroky is a Professor of International Relations at the University of Florida's Department of Political Science. He serves as Director of the Violence, Conflict and Security Lab, Core Faculty at the Florida Institute for National Security, and affiliate of the AI in Politics Lab at UF. He holds an affiliation with Nuffield College, University of Oxford.
Education: Ph.D. in Political Science from Duke University (2009).
Research Focus: Conflict dynamics, nationalism (separatist/irredentist), insurgency/counterinsurgency, great power politics, and methodological innovations involving AI/machine learning. His work analyzes civilian support for militant groups, great power intervention in civil wars, and secessionist processes using experimental designs and algorithmic modeling.
Key Contributions: Authored Defection Denied (2022), with forthcoming books on great power interventions and secession prediction. His research appears in top journals like British Journal of Political Science, Security Studies, and Comparative Politics.
