David Schoem is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Michigan and Director of the Michigan Community Scholars Program (MCSP) since 1999. He also teaches courses on intergroup relations, education, and Jewish community studies. His academic background includes a Ph.D. from UC Berkeley (1979), M.Ed. from Harvard (1974), and B.A. from the University of Michigan (1973).
His research focuses on intergroup dialogue, educational equity, and student success strategies. He has authored/co-edited books such as *College Knowledge for the Jewish Student: 101 Tips* (2010), addressing academic and social transitions for Jewish students, and collaborative works on community college students and student-athletes. His career includes roles as LSA Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Education and U-M Assistant Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs.
David’s work emphasizes building inclusive communities and fostering justice through education. He co-edited *Intergroup Dialogue: Deliberative Democracy in School, College, Community and Workplace*, highlighting participatory approaches to social issues.
