Nicholas V. Longo is a Professor in the Department of Global Studies at Providence College. He serves as a faculty fellow for engaged scholarship at the Center for Teaching Excellence and co-directs the Dialogue, Inclusion, and Democracy (DID) Lab. Additionally, he acts as a faculty mentor and board member for College Unbound, an institution focused on reimagining higher education for adult learners.
His research centers on deliberative pedagogy and democratic engagement, utilizing community-based learning strategies to advance equity in education. He has pioneered programs that integrate civic dialogue with adult education reform.
Longo's publications, including Publicly Engaged Scholars, Deliberative Pedagogy, and Creating Space for Democracy, highlight his expertise in democratic education frameworks and curriculum design for equity. These works reflect interdisciplinary intersections between pedagogy, civic engagement, and social justice.
As co-director of the DID Lab, Longo promotes dialogic learning models that bridge academic theory with community practice, fostering democratic participation among non-traditional learners.
