David R Clegg is the Business and Enterprise (B&E) Portfolio Lead in the Department of Engineering and Mathematics at Sheffield Hallam University, where he oversees undergraduate and postgraduate course development. He holds a BEng (Hons) and PhD from the same university, specializing in modeling and simulation. His research focuses on improving manufacturing processes through discrete-event simulation, lean methodologies, and Six Sigma techniques.
Dr. Clegg has extensive industry collaboration experience, including projects with BAE Systems, Siemens, and the NHS through a Royal Academy of Engineering secondment. He leads the Sheffield Hallam Formula Student Team, elevating its performance from 80th to 13th place in five years. His academic leadership roles include Programme Leader, External Examiner (Derby University), and supervision of six PhD/MSc theses.
