David Legge

David Legge is a Senior Lecturer in Mechanical, Materials and Design Engineering at Sheffield Hallam University's Department of Engineering and Mathematics. He leads or co-tutors undergraduate modules in computer-aided design (CAD), machine elements, space/satellite technology, and postgraduate modules in design for manufacture and advanced manufacturing technology. As Course Leader for the BSc(Hons) Aerospace Technology program, he actively supports and develops aerospace-related degree offerings.

His professional roles extend beyond academia, including membership on the regional IMechE committee and serving as an External Examiner for Mechanical and Electrical Engineering HNC/HND courses at Burnley Colleges. Though not research-active, he supervises MSc dissertation projects in manufacturing engineering and design, and collaborates with local industry via Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP), focusing on forging simulation processes.

His expertise spans mechanical, manufacturing, and aerospace engineering, with a focus on metrology and engineering education. His 2014 publication explored workplace health integration through a case study, reflecting his interest in applied engineering solutions.
