Dr. David Prendergast is an Associate Professor at Trinity College Dublin's School of Law, serving as Director of Postgraduate Teaching and Learning. He specializes in legal philosophy and criminal law, focusing on judicial review, criminal defences, and constitutional law. His research examines the interplay between law, morality, and regulatory norms, with notable contributions to understanding culpability, mens rea, and legal certainty.
He holds an LL.B. (First Class) from Trinity College Dublin and an LL.M. (Distinction) from University College London. A non-practising barrister, he previously worked with the Law Reform Commission and Trinity Access Programmes. His teaching excellence was recognized with a Trinity Provost's Teaching Award (2014).
