Dr. David Pope serves as Professor of Music Education and Chair of the Professional Studies Department at the Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory of Performing Arts. Additionally, he holds roles as an education clinician for Alfred Music and national conference chair for the American String Teachers Association.
His educational qualifications are:
- Ph.D. from Florida State University
- M.M.E. from the University of South Carolina
- B.M.E. from Florida State University
Pope's research focuses on music education, especially string pedagogy and orchestra instruction. His work has been published in prominent journals including the Journal of Research in Music Education and String Research Journal, and he regularly presents at conferences worldwide.
He has been honored with the Distinguished Music Educator Award (Yale Symposium for Music in Schools), the Outstanding Young Music Educator Award (Tennessee), and the String Researcher Award (American String Teachers Association, 2020).
With 11 years of experience teaching middle and high school orchestra across three states, Pope has also conducted the Case Western Reserve University Camerata Orchestra and directed multiple youth orchestras. He is frequently engaged as an adjudicator and clinician for all-state and regional honor orchestras.
