David Patiño Vilas

David Patiño Vilas is a full-time Professor at the University of Vigo, affiliated with the School of Industrial Engineering and the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Thermal and Fluid Machines and Engines. He contributes to the Research Center in Technologies, Energy and Industrial Processes and leads research within the Energy Technology Group (EM1 GTE) at the Vigo campus.

He earned his Doctorate from the University of Vigo in 2009 with the thesis "Experimental analysis of biomass combustion in a fixed bed burner," supervised by Dr. Jorge Morán González and Dr. Jacobo Porteiro Fresco. This foundational work established his expertise in experimental thermal systems.

His research centers on thermal engineering and sustainable energy, specializing in combustion dynamics, biomass conversion, and fluid machinery optimization. Dr. Patiño Vilas focuses on experimental analysis of fixed-bed biomass burners to enhance efficiency and reduce emissions in renewable energy applications, aligning with the EM1 GTE group's mission in industrial process innovation.

He actively participates in the university's research infrastructure through the Energy Technology Group, driving advancements in clean energy technologies and thermal system design for industrial contexts.
