Jose Luis Miguez Tabares serves as a Full Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Machines and Fluids at the School of Industrial Engineering, University of Vigo, Spain. His career is anchored at this institution where he actively contributes to the Centro de Investigación en Tecnologías, Energía y Procesos Industriales (Research Center for Industrial Technologies, Energy, and Processes) and the Energy Technology Research Group (EM1 GTE).
He obtained his PhD from the University of Vigo in 1996 with doctoral research titled "Valorization of lignocellulosic waste for energy purposes through densification processes by briquetting and determination of objective quality indices based on physico-chemical-energy parameters," supervised by Dr. Luis Ortiz Torres.
Professor Miguez Tabares specializes in sustainable energy conversion systems, particularly biomass valorization and thermal processes. His work bridges fundamental thermal engineering with industrial applications, focusing on optimizing waste-to-energy pathways through briquetting technologies and physicochemical parameter analysis for quality control in biofuel production.
As a core member of the EM1 GTE research group, he collaborates on advancing energy efficiency in industrial contexts within the Vigo campus ecosystem.
