David Newman

David Newman is a Professor of Resource Economics and Policy in the Department of Sustainable Resources Management at SUNY-ESF in Syracuse, NY. He serves as the College's first ombudsman and is a Fellow in the Society of American Foresters. He previously held leadership roles including Interim Provost of SUNY-ESF and Chair of the Department of Sustainable Resources Management.

Dr. Newman's research focuses on forest resource economics, land use policy, and sustainable resource management. He has also explored interdisciplinary topics in health economics and public policy through publications.
