David Morgan is a Professor affiliated with the Neuroscience Program and the Cell & Molecular Biology Program at Michigan State University. His research focuses on aging and brain function, particularly exploring therapeutic strategies for Alzheimer’s dementia.
His work investigates the role of glial cells in neurodegenerative diseases, including the impact of microglial activation on amyloid and tau pathology. Since 2008, he has prioritized understanding tau deposition in mouse models of tauopathy, identifying differential effects of glial manipulations on amyloid versus tau pathologies.
Morgan's team utilizes gene therapy approaches, such as Adeno-Associated Viral (AAV) vectors, to modify glial cell activation states and slow neurodegeneration. This research aims to establish targeted interventions for neurodegenerative conditions.
