David Michael Loucks serves as an Applied Lesson Instructor in the Contemporary Voice Department at Biola University's Conservatory of Music. With over 20 years as a professional studio singer, arranger, and vocal contractor in Los Angeles, he has collaborated with major artists including Katy Perry, Pentatonix, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Harry Styles, and contributed to high-profile projects such as "Glee," "American Idol," "Dancing With The Stars," and films including "Jurassic World" and "Star Trek Beyond."
His educational foundation began with French Horn studies at Azusa Pacific University (1991 scholarship recipient), where exposure to vocal group Take6 ignited his passion for singing. This led to arranging and leading university vocal ensembles with international touring experience. His expertise spans a 4-octave vocal range across diverse genres including Pop, R&B, Rock, Gospel, Jazz, Classical, Country, and Broadway, with frequent dual-role recording as both Tenor and Bass.
Mr. Loucks' career highlights include studio work for Faith Hill, Josh Groban, and Neil Young; live television performances on "The Voice" and "Dancing With The Stars"; and recent collaborations with Coldplay, Barbra Streisand, and Hozier. He has performed with The Ray Conniff Big Band, M-Pact, and David Pack (Ambrosia), while maintaining active industry engagement through vocal contracting and session work across albums, film, and television productions.
Currently residing in Los Angeles with his wife and three children, he balances academic instruction at Biola University with ongoing professional projects in the entertainment industry, demonstrating exceptional versatility in learning parts by ear or sheet music across all musical contexts.
