David Koelle

Dr. David Koelle holds adjunct appointments as Professor in the Department of Global Health (School of Public Health), Medicine-Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the University of Washington. He directs the Koelle Lab focused on T-cell immunology.

Research examines host-pathogen interactions through:

• T-cell responses to viral pathogens
• Translational immunology applications
• Vaccine clinical trial evaluation
• Cancer-immunity interplay

Current projects target herpesviruses (HSV-1/2, VZV), SARS-CoV-2, syphilis (Treponema pallidum), and Merkel cell polyomavirus.

Clinical practice focuses on infectious diseases at Harborview Medical Center. Research collaborations span Benaroya Research Institute, Fred Hutch Cancer Center, and NIH programs. Publications demonstrate expertise in:
