David John Hancock is a Professor in the Department of History at the University of Michigan. He holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University (1990). His research focuses on the Atlantic World, Early America, and Economic History, with expertise in quantitative methods and medieval and early modern studies. Professor Hancock teaches courses such as 'Rise of the Corporation' and 'United States to 1865.'
