David Hodgson is a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Oxford. Previously, he held a lectureship at Reading University (1990) and conducted research at Schering. His work focuses on synthetic methods for biologically active molecules. Affiliated with Oriel College, he leads the Hodgson Group.
Education:
- B.Sc. in Chemistry, University of Bath
- Ph.D. in Natural Product Synthesis, University of Southampton (supervised by P.J. Parsons)
Research Interests:
- Catalytic Enantioselective Tandem Ylide Formation - Cycloaddition
- Squalestatin 1 synthesis for hypercholesterolemia and antifungal applications
- Enantioselective Desymmetrisation of Achiral Epoxides
- Silyl and Stannyl Reagents in Organic Synthesis
