David Hickman is the Course Leader and Senior Lecturer in Sports Therapy at the University of Worcester’s School of Sport and Exercise Science. He joined the university in 2012 and transitioned to full-time lecturing in 2016, becoming Course Leader in 2023. His academic career includes roles in delivering rehabilitation programs, sessional lecturing, and supervising student clinics.

- MSc Exercise Rehabilitation (Distinction), Oxford Brookes University
- Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education, University of Worcester
Research & Practice: David specializes in trauma management, concussion assessment, and sports injury rehabilitation, particularly in musculoskeletal and neurological populations. He has established exercise rehabilitation classes for neurological conditions and collaborated with organizations like Worcester Warriors (rugby), England Basketball, and World Rugby as a concussion assessor.
Teaching: He teaches modules including Sports Injury Assessment, Concussion Management, Advanced Sports Therapy, and Trauma First Aid.
External Roles: David has worked as a head injury video reviewer for Women’s Rugby Premiership and with semi-professional football, netball, and wheelchair basketball teams.
Advising & Labs: He oversees student placements in clinics and has created rehabilitation programs involving Sports Therapy and Physiotherapy students.
