Dr. David Hart is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at West Texas A&M University (WTAMU), affiliated with the Sybil B. Harrington College of Fine Arts and Humanities and the Department of English, Philosophy and Modern Languages. He joined WTAMU in 2007 after earning his Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Georgia, alongside prior degrees in English and Religious Studies.
His teaching focuses on Modern Philosophy, Logic, and Honors courses. Research interests include early modern philosophy (particularly Descartes), the origins of probability theory, and the intersections between philosophy and literature, as well as the history of early modern medicine. Dr. Hart’s work bridges historical philosophical inquiry with interdisciplinary topics such as scientific thought and cultural contexts.
He contributes to academic discourse through his scholarly activities and maintains an office in Classroom Center 325D.
