David Hamilton is a Professor and Director of the Australian Rivers Institute at Griffith University. He holds a PhD from the University of Otago (1991) and has served as a global leader in freshwater research, previously holding the inaugural Bay of Plenty Regional Council Chair in Lake Restoration at the University of Waikato (2002–2017). His research focuses on lake restoration, freshwater ecosystems, climate change impacts, and aquatic modelling. He serves as Editor-in-Chief of Inland Waters and Associate Editor of Hydrobiologia and Aquatic Ecology.
