David Gold is an Associate Professor of English at the University of Michigan, with affiliations in Education and Women’s and Gender Studies. He holds a PhD from the University of Texas at Austin. His work focuses on rhetoric, feminist rhetorics, digital literacies, and the history of writing instruction. Gold teaches courses like Literacy in a Digital Age and Women’s Rhetorics from Suffrage to Today, emphasizing hands-on, student-led learning and real-world application. His research explores marginalized rhetors, particularly Black women’s activism and digital writing practices. He has co-authored award-winning books, including Rhetoric at the Margins, and contributed to journals like College Composition and Communication. Gold also advises the student-run online magazine The Mich and collaborates on digital humanities projects.
