Her scholarship investigates historical and contemporary intersections of rhetoric, literacy, and cultural authority, particularly in Cherokee women's rhetorical traditions. She theorizes how Indigenous pedagogies challenge exclusionary colonial public spheres and inform modern classroom practices. Key publications include analyses of Cherokee women's literacy strategies and oratorical education in transnational contexts.
Her research demonstrates that 18th-century Cherokee women employed matrilineal clan references, land rights discourse, and collaborative speech to assert political agency against colonial oppression. This work aligns with broader trends in ethnic and indigenous rhetorics, emphasizing cultural persistence and self-representation.
