Dr. David Edward Campbell is an Associate Research Fellow on the ERC-funded 'Roots of Responsibility' project and a Visiting Researcher at the Department of Philosophy, UCL. He is also a stipendiary lecturer in Law at Lady Margaret Hall, University of Oxford. He earned his PhD at Trinity College Dublin, where he was co-convenor of the Irish Jurisprudence Society and was called to the Bar of Ireland.

His research bridges moral, legal philosophy, and biological systems theory to analyze the conditions for legitimate blame and responsibility in criminal law and torts. The 'Roots of Responsibility' project integrates metaphysics, ethics, and legal philosophy to advance debates on human agency and institutional contexts of responsibility.
Dr. Campbell teaches Criminal Law, Jurisprudence, and Foundation Year law courses at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford. His work involves interdisciplinary collaboration with expertise in legal theory, bio-systems, and philosophy of action.
He is affiliated with the 'Roots of Responsibility' project, funded by the European Research Council, and maintains active roles in both legal and philosophical disciplines across institutions.
