David Chong

Dr. David Chong is a part-time faculty member in the Master of Arts Leadership Program at Trinity Western University's School of Graduate Studies. A pracademic with a unique blend of clinical practice and education, he holds degrees in Social Work and Health Information Science from the University of Victoria, a Master of Social Work from the University of British Columbia, a Master of Arts in Health Research (Mental Health) from Lancaster University, and a Doctorate from the University of Liverpool. In addition to his academic role, he serves as Director of Counselling and Psychotherapy in private practice at Richmond, BC, and operates a community pharmacy.

Dr. Chong's research focuses on enhancing inter-professional collaboration among healthcare clinicians to improve patient outcomes and communication. His clinical work emphasizes holistic, patient-centered approaches and integrated care models that foster teamwork among healthcare professionals.

Professional affiliations include the British Columbia College of Social Workers, British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors, Canadian Association for Couple and Family Therapy, and several other healthcare organizations.

As a Clinical Supervisor, he mentors graduate students in Counselling Psychology across multiple Master’s programs. His courses at TWU include Strategic Leadership (LDRS 501), Employee Engagement & Stewardship (LDRS 617), Health Care Leadership Issues (LDRS 631), and Leadership & Change (LDRS 632).
