Dr. Heather A. Strong is a Professor in the Masters in Leadership program at Trinity Western University (TWU), School of Graduate Studies, since 2017. Previously, she held an Assistant Professor position in Health Sciences at Redeemer University College (2012–2015). She concurrently serves as Director of Research for the Kootenay Emergency Response Physician's Association (KERPA), a non-profit organization focused on rural BC emergency healthcare, and as Vice President of the Nelson Reflections Artistic Swim Club.
Her education includes a PhD from McMaster University, an MA in Applied Health Sciences from Brock University, and a BA (Honours) from Redeemer University.
Dr. Strong’s research focuses on health behavior determinants, particularly how physical activity enhances women’s mental health and spirituality’s role in health. Current projects include geo-mapping accidental deaths in the Kootenay region (funded by Rural Coordination Centre of BC).
Her awards include SSHRC Doctoral Scholarship (2007–10), Ontario Graduate Scholarships (2005–07), and a Canadian Graduate Scholarship (2003–04). She has authored/co-authored over 10 peer-reviewed articles on topics like body image, cortisol response to evaluative threat, and social physique anxiety.
Her teaching includes courses such as LDRS 591 (Scholarly Inquiry) and LDRS 631 (Health Leadership Issues). She actively contributes to leadership development and health policy initiatives.
