David Chatwin is a Professor of Bassoon and Wind Repertoire Coach at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), where he has taught since 1977. He served as Principal Bassoon of the BBC Philharmonic for 44 years (1972–2016), collaborating with renowned conductors and soloists globally. His career includes over 50 international tours, 250 recordings, and participation in the Royal Albert Hall Proms for four decades. He co-founded the BBC Philharmonic Wind Ensemble and has conducted youth orchestras such as the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and Queensland Youth Orchestra.
