معرفی
David Braun, MD, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Medicine (Medical Oncology) and a Louis Goodman and Alfred Gilman Yale Scholar at Yale School of Medicine. He is a member of the Center of Molecular and Cellular Oncology (CMCO) at Yale Cancer Center and has secondary appointments in Pathology and multiple other departments including Computational Biology and Biomedical Informatics, Human and Translational Immunology Program, Immunology, Internal Medicine, and the Program in Translational Biomedicine.
Dr. Braun's research focuses on kidney cancer, specifically renal cell carcinoma, and the integration of computational approaches with experimental biology to develop precision immunotherapies. His work examines how somatic alterations impact response to immunotherapy, how the immune microenvironment affects anti-tumor immunity, and identifying target tumor antigens and characteristics of T cells that recognize them.
His recent publications (2025) demonstrate a strong focus on tumor microenvironment analysis, mechanisms of immune checkpoint inhibitor resistance, and biomarker discovery in renal cell carcinoma. The research spans from basic mechanisms to clinical applications, with several studies analyzing data from clinical trials like Checkmate 9ER.
- R37 MERIT Award (2023) from NIH/NCI
- Idea Development Award (2023) from Department of Defense
- Young Physician-Scientist Award (2023) from American Society of Clinical Investigation
- Trailblazer Award (2022) from Kidney Cancer Association
- Goodman and Gilman Yale Scholar (2022)
Dr. Braun leads the BraunLab, which fosters and mentors physician-scientists as they advance their laboratory-based research programs to bridge fundamental cancer biology with clinical investigation. His work is supported by multiple grants including the 2025 Clinic & Laboratory Integration Program (CLIP) and Technology Impact Awards from the Cancer Research Institute for his project 'Development of antigen-directed therapies for renal cell carcinoma.'
