معرفی
David Bergbreiter is a Professor and Director of the Organic Program at Texas A&M University's Department of Chemistry. He holds the Regents' Professor Award (2016–present) and Presidential Professor for Teaching Excellence (2006–present), reflecting his dedication to both research and education.
- Education: B.S., 1970, Michigan State University; Ph.D., 1974, Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
- Research Focus: Catalysis, polymer functionalization, and green chemistry. His work emphasizes sustainable solvents and polymer-based solutions for catalyst recovery and water purification.
His research group develops functional polymers to address environmental challenges, such as using 'smart' polymers for reversible water purification and designing phase-selective catalysts. Key projects include recyclable iridium catalysts for C-H borylation and hydrocarbon oligomers as safer solvents.
Awards:
- South Eastern Conference Faculty Achievement Award (2017)
- University-Level Association of Former Students Distinguished Achievement Awards (Research 2008, Teaching 1997)
- Eppright University Professorship for Undergraduate Teaching Excellence (2002–present)
Advising & Labs: Leads the Bergbreiter Research Group, focusing on collaborative projects in catalysis and polymer science. His work bridges fundamental chemistry with practical applications in sustainability.
