Oleg Ozerov is the Emile and Marta Schweikert Professor of Chemistry at Texas A&M University. He leads the Ozerov Research Group, focusing on organometallic chemistry, catalysis, and energy-related applications. His research integrates transition metal and main group chemistry to design novel ligands, develop catalytic processes, and explore reactivity in areas like C-H activation and borylation.
- Education: Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Kentucky (2000), Postdoctoral Associate at Indiana University (2000-2002).
Research interests emphasize structurally novel organometallic complexes, including hypercoordinate main group species and transition metal catalysts. Key areas include designing pincer ligands (e.g., PNP, PBP), carbon-fluorine bond activation, and energy conversion chemistry targeting biomass hydrogenation and electroreduction of CO₂. Notable achievements include pioneering work on boryl-directed C-H activation of pyridines and mechanistic studies of transition metal-assisted reductive elimination.
Publications highlight advancements in catalytic systems, reactivity mechanisms, and ligand design. Awards include the Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship and the ACS Pure Chemistry Award (2012). His work bridges synthetic innovation with practical applications in sustainable chemistry.
