Dr. Maguy Abi Jaoude is an Associate Professor of Chemistry at Khalifa University of Science and Technology. She leads the Environmental and Bio-Catalysis Theme at the Center for Catalysis and Separation (CeCaS) since 2022 and collaborates with the Center for Membranes and Advanced Water Technology (CMAT). Previously, she served as an adjunct instructor at the University of Claude Bernard Lyon 1, France.
Education:
- Ph.D., Analytical Chemistry, University of Claude Bernard Lyon 1 (2011)
- M.Sc., Analytical Chemistry, University of Claude Bernard Lyon 1 (2008)
- Teaching Diploma in Sciences, Major in General Chemistry, Lebanese University (2007)
Her research focuses on synthesizing low-dimensional metal oxides for environmental applications, using green solvents like Deep Eutectic Solvents (DESs) in catalysis and membrane technologies, and advancing e-waste recycling for critical metals. She explores electrospinning, sol-gel processes, and photothermal catalysis to improve air/water purification and reactor technologies.
Scientific Awards:
- 2018 Khalifa University Faculty Service Excellence Award
- Fellow of the American Chemical Society
Dr. Abi Jaoude supervises multiple graduate students, including Ph.D. candidates and M.Sc. students, and collaborates with international institutions like IQS-Barcelona. Her work contributes to the circular economy of chemicals through sustainable catalysis and separation methods.
