Dr. Emad AlHseinat is an Associate Professor in the Chemical & Petroleum Engineering Department at Khalifa University, UAE. He leads a lab focused on novel separation processes for water treatment and desalination, while actively participating in the Center for Membranes and Advanced Water Technology (CMAT) and the Center for Catalysis and Separations (CeCaS).
- Education: Ph.D. in Chemical and Process Engineering (University of Edinburgh, UK); M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering (Jordan University of Science and Technology, Jordan).
His research addresses freshwater scarcity in arid regions through advanced desalination technologies like Capacitive Deionization, membrane fouling modeling, and electromagnetic process intensification. He has secured over AED 6.7 Million in research grants as principal investigator, notably for projects on PV-RO fouling prediction and hybrid treatment systems for oil and gas produced water.
Dr. AlHseinat teaches undergraduate courses such as Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, and Mass Transfer, along with graduate-level Separation Processes and fouling-related topics. His lab team includes postdocs (Dr. Pham Le Phuong Tu, Dr. Jisha Kuttiani Ali) and a research assistant (Eng. Abdul Fahim Arangadi).
