David Bateman is an Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting at the Sobey School of Business, Saint Mary's University. He holds administrative roles such as former Associate Dean, EMBA Director, Co-Chair of the Department of Accounting, and Academic Director of the MBA (CPA Stream). His expertise lies in Management Information Systems and related areas.
David holds an MBA from Dalhousie University and has attended AACSB MIS Faculty Development programs at the University of Indiana.
His research focuses on Knowledge Management, Strategic Impacts of IT for business value, IT Governance, Accounting Information Systems and Controls, and the AI's impacts on business and education. He emphasizes leveraging technology to enhance organizational effectiveness and ethical practices in information systems.
David has developed online courses for Sobey School of Business, Athabasca University, University of Waterloo, and the Czech Management Centre. He has served on professional organization committees and was past president of the Canadian Academic Accounting Association (CAAA).
